Ischia: visitiamola in motion!

Ischia is an island located in the Bay of Naples, near the islands of Capri and Procida, for years an international tourist destination for its natural beauty and for its healing thermal waters. After having heard so I decided to go personally to explore riding my bike.

To get to Ischia with the vehicle as a result we have two choices, take the ferry from Naples or Pozzuoli. My choice fell on the port of Pozzuoli, for the simple reason that it is closer to Ischia and there are many more races than those who depart from the port of Naples. Once at the pier of Pozzuoli, just go to the ticket and boarding ticket appears, without any reservation.

Ischia vista dal porto already selling it to the ferry from Ischia sea is as impressive for its conformation (Mount Epomeo nearly 800 meters high) and for the richness of vegetation through which it has earned the nickname Ischia island Green .

disembarking from the ferry you take a small road junction which flows directly onto the highway 270. Top view is shaped like a ring, connecting all six municipalities of the island of Ischia: Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Lacco Ameno, Forio, Ischia and Barano Serrara Fontana. The SS 270 is 33 km long, consists of a 'single carriageway with two lanes, one in each direction. Passing through the towns of Lacco Ameno and Casamicciola Terme the ss270 along the sea offering a marvelous view, until you reach the town of Fontana Serrara where he became a real mountain road full of hairpin turns and viewpoints.

First stage: Forio

Chiesa del soccorso a Forio d'Ischia Being landed on Ischia in the afternoon I head to the west side of the island have yet to light up the sun and can take some pictures of Ischia . The town is more exposed to the west is the town of Forio . By extension is the second largest municipality after that of Ischia, counts with a beautiful coastline along which you will find the beaches of San Francesco, Chiaia, Cava and Citara. Once in Forio not I go on the beaches but rather in another place that intrigues me most is the "Church of the Madonna del Soccorso". This church was built overlooking the sea and originally from 1350 until the middle of the '600 was an Augustine convent, Over the years the church became the reference of the fishermen, anyone who went to sea, calling for the protection of Our Lady of the aid so that no accidents never happen at sea. The architecture of the Church is not affected by outside influences, is based on the style of local construction, its interior is rich in works of art acquired the years, the square is composed of tiles depicting scenes from the Passion of Jesus Christ. Visited by many tourists each year was also the scene of many weddings, local residents remember with pleasure the marriage of Vincenzo Montella (AS Roma Players) married in this church a few years ago.

The Church enjoys a panorama of Relief only, you can see the beaches, rocks lovers (such as similarity are similar to Faraglioni of Capri, but smaller), the tourist port of Forio and the unforgettable sunsets, when the sun goes down into the sea in front the church until it disappears completely and the sky turns a pink orange worthy of being immortalized in an unforgettable work of a great artist.
